RE: Dump Station Story

They are usually the same (type) person that is ahead of me in the checkout line at the grocery store. They wait until the bill is totaled, then start digging in their purse for their checkbook, proceed to write a book (it seems like) when writing the check, then proceed to enter the check, do their arithmetic, put the check book away then pursue the receipt and finally move on . They have utterly no concern for the other person. You find them everywhere.

RE: Where did you go for Gustav?

We didn't go, but were on the receiving end. We had a houseful from South Texas, and our church opened up the family life center for over 200 special needs persons. I hope all are back home now and doing well..

RE: Travel Trailer Inspection

The State of Texas says you are to have your travel trailer inspected once a year. How many people actually do this? Do all states require state safety inspections? I have had my trailer since July 02. It has never been inspected.:B

RE: Generator noise

I don't have a Champion, but have one of like quality that I bought at Pep Boys 3 years ago when Rita came through. I had to use it last week when a storm knocked out our power for about 5 hours. It would not run my home AC, but it handles everything else. I believe I paid about 350.oo for it. It is 3750 Watts and will run the ac on my trailer..

RE: Dish Network customer svc bad !

I switched to Direct TV about 6 months ago. I started having problems with no sound on the HD channels. After numerous calls to their service center and having to reset my receiver, I asked for a tech to come out and troubleshoot my problem. The tech informed me that the problem was with direct tv. I called again and complained about no sound on HD channels. After sending them an email, I received a call from their customer service. End result was no charge for one year for HD service. I still get intermittent sound on the HD channels. Was wishing I had gone to Dish, but after reading the previous posts, I am glad I did not..

RE: Getting ready to evacuate

Hope that storm turn way to the South, but am ready for the influx of relatives from the gulf coast area. Getting the trailer ready and stocking up on LP, gas for the generator and spare batteries, etc. The motels, hotels, etc are already booked up. Good Luck to all..

RE: water leak

Since this is an 07 model, is there any chance it is still in warranty? Is there a chance that the water is coming from splashing during use.? If not you should seek some help before it becomes a major problem. My guess there is a loose connection in the drain. The tub went in and it has to come out. . Is the gray tank actually not emptying or are you relying on the gages? These gages are notorisly innacurate. The standing water in the tub is probably in the p trap. This is to keep odors out of the unit. Good luck and keep us informed as someone else may have a similar problem.

RE: Your Fuel/Oil comments - please post here

Isn't it amazing how the oil companies have gotten us conditioned to the fact that we think that $3.00/gallon is cheap gas??

RE: Water heater

Did you remember to push in on the blue knob after turning it to the pilot position?.( If it doesn't push turn it just past the pilot position.) It is spring loaded and turns the gas on to the pilot tube. You need to keep pushing it in until the pilot is lit and then hold it in for a few more seconds until the pilot will stay lit. Then turn the knob to the on position. Good Luck..

RE: Need Jewelry Repair in New Mexico

Look around your area and see if there is a gem and mineral society. These people are very skilled at the type of repair you are talking about. I used to do this kind of work and could still do it if needed. The cost you mentioned is way out of line, but I could understand why a jewelery store would quote a price like that. They really did not want to do it. If you are ever in my area give me a call and I will take care of it for you. Good Luck.

RE: After-market nose cone for TT?

Unless you pull your trailer an awful lot, the expense and weight would probably not be worth it. I know myself no more than I pull my trailer, especially now with the gas prices the way they are l/10 of a mpg would not be worth the several hundreds of dollars one of these thing would probably cost... JMO..:D

RE: Why do people need to scream all the time?

My grandson's wife is like that. She simply cannot talk to her children without screaming. Needless to say we visit very little.

RE: Armour All on Slide Seals

It should work just fine. I use the spray I shine my tires with. I also use it on the electrical cord to make it go in the hole a little easier..

RE: Hitching up

Sounds to me like your coupler is not opening all the way. Check to make sure it is wide open. Perhaps some luberication would help. I know on mine, I have to make sure the lever is pulled all the way back. Good Luck..

RE: Winter... just around the corner!

I just noticed that winter is on the way. We had a 3 inch rain yesterday and the temperature dropped all the way down to 88. Time to break out the long handles.:D

RE: Water heater fire

I'm sorry to hear about your mishap. This is just a thought, but do you have insurance? If so, it would probably be in order to file a claim and have the work done by someone that really knows what they are doing and have it done right. That way you could have the sink shelves repaired along with the burnt wiring. Good Luck..

RE: Make you feel old

Hi EGH, At least you found the base. Some that I remember so well are gone. It's strange to find nothing there. I know just what you mean. I was stationed at NAS Atlantic City NJ in the mid 50s. Went back a few years ago and could find no one that even remembered it. Seems like the FAA had taken over.

RE: Eating out is out for awhile

I have all but stopped eating breakfast at the local casino because of the high prices.. Several Sundays back I went to the local casino for the 99 cent breakfast like I have been doing for the past 25 years.. .... and I almost passed out from sticker shock ... !! they had raised the price from 99 cent to $1.99.. and now they charge extra for the coffee. There is just no way I will pay $2.13 ..(w/tax).. for a simple breakfast of ... 2 eggs, 2 toast, hash browns, 2 bacon -or- 2 link sausage -or- 1 ham steak -or- 1 sausage patty. and if I have coffee, it would cost me another $1.25 ..(w/tax $1.32) ... Then the waitress wants her tip .. (I always tip exactly $1.00 no matter what I eat) That makes it a total of $4.45 just to eat breakfast.. That price is totally ridiculous... It's highway robbery !! if they lowered the price of the meal to $1.25 and tossed in the coffee for free .... maybe I would eat there again.. For about that same amount of money, $4.45,... give or take a quarter, I can eat breakfast at home three times... And I save the gas it takes to travel to the restaurant ... Breakfast at home...... 2 eggs at 12.5 cent each ........... 25 cent 2 bacon at 16 cent each ........... 32 cent 2 toast at 5 cent each ........... 10 cent 1 small potato +- ........... 10 cent 1 pot of coffee (+-10 cups)......... 30 cent and add in about 15 cents worth of electricity to cook and wash dishes. Which comes to / +- / $1.22 to eat at home.. John John, You are really a big spender. I bet the casino would send out a Limo for you if you pressed the issue...:W
